Super Bowl Kickoff

The Super Bowl kickoff marks the official start of the game as one team kicks off the ball for the other team to gain possession and start play. The Super Bowl kickoff is no different than a regular game kickoff. The stakes are however significantly higher than that of regular games, therefore the significance of the Superbowl kickoff is magnified somewhat. The coach can make or break a team's chances at winning simply with the decision he makes after the coin toss before the kickoff for Superbowl.

One such notable kickoff that cost a team the game is the Super Bowl 2003 kickoff where one team member of the Panthers flubbed a kickoff and gave the other team, the New England Patriots, the chance they needed to seal the other team's fate and win. Another such notable kickoff that could have gone down in history as infamous was it not for playbacks that overturned certain fumble calls was the Super Bowl XXXVII kickoff.

Every year, the kick off time for Super Bowl may vary, depending on the pre game activities like the national anthem and the other ceremonies that happen before the kick off. The Super Bowl Sunday kick off time may not follow the regular schedule of the start of the game as dictated by game schedules printed by the networks and the NFL. The differences in the kickoff time Superbowl Sunday games through the years have is rather negligible, however, since these differences only come minutes after the official time the NFL has set.

This year, the Super Bowl 2007 kickoff time was at 6:27 PM EST. This means that, despite the schedule for the game being 6:00 PM EST, the Super Bowl 2007 kickoff officially began 27 minutes later. The fans who waited for the game to start were not disappointed with the wait despite the fact that the Super Bowl XL1 kickoff time was 6:27, the 2007 Super Bowl kickoff started the game off on a spectacular footing.

The Super Bowl XLI kickoff was paired off with a catch and touchdown by the Chicago Bears who won the coin toss and who decided to receive instead of kick. This spectacular play despite the late Super Bowl XLI kick off time just shows that the kickoff time Super Bowl XLI had did not affect the fans in the least after they saw such a wonderful opening kick and play. Plus, Billy Joel singing the national anthem cannot be all that bad?
