Super Bowl XXXVI

The Super Bowl XXXVI featured a very interesting game. Super Bowl XXXVI features two teams who paved different roads in their way to the Super Bowl XXXVI. The game was played between the AFC champions New England Patriots and the NFC champions St. Louis Rams. Superbowl 36 was the only Super Bowl in history that has been decided on one play only.

The play belonged to New England's Adam Vinatieri, with a 48-yard kick at the end of regulation sealing one of the biggest upset in NFL history when the Patriots beat the highly favored Rams 20-17. The Rams were favored to win the game by 14 points according to most of the Super Bowl XXXVI predictions. The Super Bowl was held in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA. The game was played on February 3, 2002.

Super Bowl XXXVI was the first Super Bowl since the 9/11 attack. People were still recovering from the harrowing experience and Super Bowl was not exempted. The original date of the Super Bowl XXXVI was moved one week later (original date is January 27) for security reasons.

The pre-game show was also a tribute to the heroes of the tragedy. There were freedom inspired songs by numerous artists that included Barry Manilow and James Ingram. Memories of Super Bowl XXXVI and Paul McCartney, Freedom – a tribute song for the 9/11 was also performed during the halftime show still linger. Mariah Carey sang the National Anthem. For the first time in history, the President (George W. Bush) personally came for the coin toss of the game.

Some Super Bowl XXXVI commercials were also somehow connected to the 9/11 tragedy as they discuss terrorism in many ways. Superbowl XXXVI ads also featured upcoming movies during that time. The Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show is a bang as well as a tribute. The U2 Super Bowl XXXVI halftime show rocked everyone with their high energy performance. Known for their political stands, U2 performed with a backdrop of all the names the victims of the tragedy.

Just like other Super Bowls, Super Bowl 36 patch to other countries is also numerous. There are subscriptions coming from Europe, Latin America and even from Asia and Africa.
