Super Bowl Logo
The Super Bowl logo has been used since the very first super bowl. Although the name Super Bowl wasn’t used in the first edition, the name Super Bowl II appeared the next year. That Super Bowl logo indicated the first AFL-NFL championship game was regarded by the league as the first Super Bowl. The early Super Bowl logo featured only colors and fancy letters without any meaning. A standard Superbowl logo during those times will just say the event in colored and fancy letters and below or above the Super Bowl logos also letters in small fonts indicating the place and date of the actual event.
The most probable Superbowl logos, which worked as a symbol, were the Super Bowl XXI in Rose Bowl Arena. It has the name Super Bowl in a leaning position with a red rose at the back of the name Super Bowl. Below the name is the Roman numeral number of 21. The same theme was also applied to Super Bowl XXVII. The Super Bowl Champions logo also featured roses as the game was held in the Rose Bowl arena.
If you take a look at the picture of Super Bowl XL logo, you will immediately notice the letters X in red and L in blue with the name Super Bowl joining them together and at the end of the name are stars in red at the left and blue at the right. Super Bowl 2006 logo simply symbolizes AFC in red and NFC in blue coming together to play for the championships.
The next year, the Super Bowl 2007 logo features the roman letters XLI written in red wherein the “I” served as a pylon. The letters X and L are wrapped in the words “Super Bowl” and each end has a red and blue color. The Super Bowl 2007 logo also speaks of the coming together of the two conferences to determine the champion. The Colts Super Bowl logo is predominantly red to indicate their membership in the AFC. There was however a knock off with a mistaken “Super Bowl XXXXI” logo.
Next year, the Super Bowl XLII logo, will have the word “Super” on top of the flying red star. Below it will be the turquoise colored XLII and below it is the word “bowl” and below the word is the flying blue star. This Superbowl XLII logo tells of the coming together of the two conferences in Arizona – represented by the turquoise color on the Roman Numbers.
