The New Orleans Saints started way back in 1967 as a member of the National Football league. The name “Saints” is based on numerous factors; one is the jazz anthem, “When Saints Go Marching in”. Another factor for its name is the predominant catholic population of the city. Incidentally, the announcement of the team’s expansion was on November 1 – an All Saints’ Day.
