Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers is a 1995 expansion team of the NFL. The Carolina Panthers immediately became a member of the West Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) from 1995-2001. Carolina Panthers was transferred to the NFC South when the league was realigned when the Houston Texans became the latest of the expansion teams. The current stadium of the Carolina Panthers football team is the Bank of America Stadium which was also known as the Ericsson Stadium from 1996 to 2004. The Carolina Panthers football team was homed in their maiden season in the Memorial Stadium in Clemson. The Carolina Panthers logo is a black growling cat outlined in blue. The shape of the logo is based on the combined borders of the North and South Carolina.

Since its first season, the Carolina Panthers managed to make it to three playoffs. This includes a season that earned them the nickname “Cardiac Cats” for all the heart stopping games which they all won in a slim margin except in the Super Bowl. One of those games was experienced by Steve Smith, the Carolina Panthers wide receiver. It was in the division playoff game that Carolina Panthers Steve Smith caught a 69-yard pass from Jake Delhomme. It was in the second overtime and it was the play that lifted the team for a 29-23 win. The team would again appear in the playoffs in 2005 but was eliminated but the Seahawks in the Conference Championships.
