The Denver Broncos started joining the professional football league in the year 1960. They were one of the original teams of the new league when the merger of the AFL and NFL happened in 1970. Throughout their 40 years in the professional league, the Denver Broncos have recorded a total of six trips to the Super Bowl, winning two of them (Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII).

The early years of the Denver Broncos were quite unfortunate for the team. They were the only team in AFL that failed to make an impression before the AFL merged with the NFL. Only six years in the NFL, the Broncos finally made their first playoff appearance and defeated the Pittsburg Steelers 34-21. The team went on to appear in the Super Bowl after humbling the Raiders, 20-17. However, the Denver Broncos lost 27-10 to the Cowboys in their first Super Bowl.

Since then, the team’s longest playoff drought would only be three years. The franchise would then win two Super Bowls in the years 1997 and 1998. Leading the way was Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway who played his last game of his career in the Super Bowl, and went on to win and became MVP of the game.

Denver Broncos fans are continuously supporting the team. The franchise has experienced serious losses off the field. One of their players was shot and killed just hours after they were eliminated in the 2007 playoffs. In the same off season, 3rd string running back Damien Nash collapsed in a basketball game and died. Both the families of the deceased donated the brains of the players to the biological study of football players. And this worked well to silence all the Denver Broncos rumors about the causes of the deaths.
