Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns are one of the oldest teams in the league. They became a professional football team in 1946 in the AAFC (All-America Football Conference). During their stint in the AAFC, Cleveland Browns won all the championships of the conference before it folded in the year 1949. During the 1948 season, Cleveland Browns football registered the very first unbeaten season in American Football. The feat was only replicated by the Miami Dolphins during their 1972 season.

From the time the team was established, the Cleveland Browns only had two known home fields, the Cleveland Municipal Stadium from 1946-1995 and the current stadium, the Cleveland Browns stadium. The name ‘Brown’ came from the famous boxer Joe Louis who went by the moniker “Brown Bomber”.

Much to the success of the Cleveland Browns during the early years had seized to continue after the AFL-NFL merger. After the merger, the team has yet to appear in the Super Bowl, and their closest achievements are the three conference championships (1986, 1987 and 1989) which they lost to the Jets, Colts and Bills respectively. Their latest playoff appearance was a Wild-Card playoff loss against the Steelers in 2002.

Though the performance of the team is not very impressive, it is backed by a very loyal fan base in Cleveland. Whenever the newspaper of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Plain Dealer, announces a home game, fans flock to the Cleveland Browns Stadium to watch and cheer for the home team. A study was conducted, and it was known that at least 99.8 percent of the seats are filled throughout every season.
